DroneView Year in Review and Outlook for 2021

As we close what has been a difficult 2020 for everyone, I find myself more optimistic than I would have anticipated …

Against this backdrop, I would be remiss if I did not recognize the challenges and hardships faced by so many; offer condolences to those killed and sickened by the virus; and acknowledge those in hospitality, entertainment, travel and other industries ravaged by market factors completely out of their control. We are grateful for the herculean efforts of our health care workers, educators and countless others who have tirelessly helped people through these most difficult times. And, we remain hopeful that, in time, with vaccinations, prudent social practices and patience that we will all slowly return to “normal”.

As so many were forced to do, we had to figure out how to manage a crazy workload along with homeschooling, caring for elderly parents, lockdowns, and working in close quarters in makeshift home offices.  I must acknowledge all of the DroneView associates and our business partners and thank them all for their effort as they continued to deliver spectacularly for our clients amid circumstances that would have been unthinkable only a year ago.

Despite the pandemic, our clients have kept us busy.  Our business rebounded from a slow first quarter and we finished 2020 way ahead of where any of us could have anticipated - with record revenues up significantly over the prior year. The 2021 outlook continues to look bright.

It is clear despite the company’s name, DroneView is far more than “just drones'' with a significant percentage of the company’s projects and revenues coming from platforms other than drones.

The DroneView team continues to grow - adding seasoned professionals with expertise in photogrammetry, survey, LiDAR and CAD, in addition to market leading drone expertise. DroneView delivers high accuracy mapping and geospatial products to civil engineering and survey firms and clients in various industries including: energy, airports, solar, wind, oil/gas, mining/aggregates, landfill, infrastructure, land development, construction, among others.

We recognize the power and capabilities that drones have brought to the mapping industry. DroneView has developed workflows and has established market leading insights on how and when to utilize drones in high accuracy mapping projects and a clear understanding when other platforms are better suited.

We are encouraged with the continued development of sophisticated drone products and advanced sensors coupled with falling costs (especially LiDAR sensors). We closely watch the regulatory changes underway - potential import restrictions of Chinese manufactured drone products (namely those produced by DJI), remote ID requirements, changes in night time operations, flights over people and vehicles, operations beyond visual line of sight, among others. We do not anticipate that any of these changes will have a material impact on our drone operations in 2021.

We continue to offer our gratitude and sincere thanks to the many people that have helped guide us on our journey. With clarity to our business and strength in our market leading team of professionals, we are extremely excited for what lies ahead for DroneView Technologies in the upcoming year and beyond.

Our best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
